The nature is full of colours and every colour has some significance and effect on human beings. Indepth study has been made by ancients and India sages in the past. Vastu shastra refers to various colours and their effects. Seven colour spectrum has been used in vastu science explaining its ingredients and their properties and their effects on the prosperity or otherwise. Once the construction of the house/building is complete, the first thing that is to be considered is about the colours to be used in painting. The colours to be used should be such that that inspires or enhances the mood of the human beings. Colours describe the emotions like goodness (Satvik) passion (Rajasik) and ignorance (Tamasik) and temperaments. Colours are most important media for changing moods.
There are according to vastu shastra, six principle colours viz White, Red, Yellow, Green, Blue and Black. The rest of the colours we see are all combinations of the six principle colours. One’s expressed though use of colours. Bharata’s natyashastra explains and specified the usage of colours in expressing emotions and various moods. What colours should be used is also clearly explained since some colours give dynamic, powerful expressions. Few colurs are prone to argumentativeness, few colours are found in deep expression of Panch Maha Bhootas, five elements, Earth, Water, Ether, Fire and Air. Red representats Fire, White represent wind and Blue represents sky. Only water is colourless. It is certain that colour can help to improve one’s emotions and it can be used to harmonized the personality. Colour scheme has an effect on the health also apart from moods.
Every zodiac sign has a colour of its own. If the colours are used according to one’s zodiac sign the vastu faults, if any, of his house could be remedied. White colour should not be used too much on the walls and floors. It make life more ambitious, turning it excessively luxurious, which ultimately is good for life of family. If Venus is predominant and powerful in one’s horoscope it will be auspicious. If it is otherwise the white colour should be avoided altogether. It is therefore desirable to consult the astrologers so far of colours on the walls of the house.
